Dabbe.2006 is a Turkish horror film, directed by Selim Alibaz, that was released in 2006. The film is set in Istanbul, Turkey and revolves around two friends who are passionately collecting rare books and manuscripts of writers like Edgar Allan Poe and Friedrich Nietzsche. As they begin to translate the books into modern Turkish they encounter unexpected supernatural occurrences. They soon realize that the story told in these books has not faded with time but become more sinister than ever before when it comes to their translation. The film received mixed reviews due to its critical acclaim of the original story. The director, Selim Alibaz decided not to make a sequel for this film. The two main leads are Ayhan Işık as Mehmet and Cüneyt Çapa as Mert. The movie also features many well-known Turkish actors such as Tolga Tekin as Hasan and Kemal Sunal as Yılmaz (Yılmaz Köse). The film was released without a rating in the US and Canada, meaning it could be seen by all audiences. In Great Britain, however, it is rated 18+, meaning it can only be seen by those over the age of 18. In Turkey the film was a box office hit and quickly became one of the most popular films in the country. It has received a rating 81% from Topkapı Multimedya and a rating of 7.2 out of 10 from Türkiye Sineması Sözlüğü'nde(Turkey Cinema Encyclopedia). Despite being praised by many critics for its unique story, characters and twists, this movie was not as successful as some fans had hoped. It is widely considered as one of Cüneyt Çapa's best roles to date. The film has been compared to "The Ring" and "Paranormal Activity". Both of these films have been praised for their ability to captivate the audience with the use of atmosphere created through the editing of the footage. Although, "Dabbe" was not as successful as some horror films, it has received positive responses from many media sources. "Dabbe" had music composed by Serkan Çalap who is well known for his work on "Uzak", also by Selim Alibaz. The track "Nasıl Bir Şey Olduğunu Görmedim" is a Turkish cover of the Irish folk song "The Whistling Gypsy." The song was performed by Zafer Alçelik and Sung by Sezen Aksu. In addition, Cüneyt Çapa has covered both "Nasıl Bir Şey Olduğunu Görmedim" and "Aşkın Var Ama" as a duet with his wife Hande Erçin. The film score can be viewed on Amazon. cfa1e77820
